Legend of Victory Attacks Jesus: Your Approach is the Reason for Decline

In a recent critique, Youssef Khamis, a prominent figure in the history of Al-Nasr Football Club, directed pointed remarks towards the team’s head coach, Jorge Jesus, following a disappointing performance in the last two matches of the Roshan Saudi League. Khamis asserted that Jesus’s tactical choices were a significant factor in the team’s early exit from the Cup of the King.

Despite having enjoyed a remarkable run with ten consecutive victories that positioned Al-Nasr at the top of the league standings, the recent outcomes—a draw and a defeat—have seen them relinquish their lead to Al-Hilal by a narrow margin of one point. This decline comes just weeks after Al-Nasr’s exit from the knockout stage of the aforementioned cup.

Critique of Tactical Approach

Youssef Khamis articulated his concerns during an interview on the program “In the Middle,” emphasizing that “the style of play employed by Jesus is the reason behind the decline in the team’s results; it cannot be relied upon consistently.” He elaborated on specific matches, noting that the team’s defeat against Al-Ittihad in the Cup was largely due to the high defensive line strategy, and similarly, the loss to Al-Ahli in the league reflected the same tactical miscalculation.

According to Khamis, the entire defense seems to advance into the midfield, facilitating an easier transition for opponents to exploit. “This is indeed peculiar,” he remarked. Furthermore, he pointed out the glaring lack of defensive depth, alongside an excessive forward movement of the full-backs, which, if not addressed, could continue to hinder the team’s performance.

In conclusion of his critique, Khamis stressed the urgency for Jorge Jesus to reevaluate his tactical approach, advocating for a more balanced strategy between defense and attack, in order to mitigate the risk of conceding further goals in upcoming matches.
