This statement comes in response to revelations by “The Athletic,” highlighting a notable rift within the Real Madrid dressing room during Alonso’s time, which was cited as a contributing factor to his exit following a loss to Barcelona in the Supercopa de España final held in Saudi Arabia.
Allegations of Player Divisions
The report indicated that a faction of players, including Kylian Mbappé, Arda Güler, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Dani Ceballos, and Raúl Asensio, were supportive of the coach. Conversely, those players who allegedly did not trust Alonso and failed to provide the necessary support were led by Federico Valverde, along with Bellingham and Vinícius Júnior.
This information aligns with previous leaks from Spanish journalist Pepe Álvarez, who confirmed that Alonso reached a state of complete exhaustion due to escalating “behavioral mistakes and disrespect” from certain players.
Álvarez noted that one of the pivotal incidents influencing Alonso’s decision was the administration’s attempt to impose fitness coach Antonio Pintus on him from the very next day, without consulting him. This was perceived by the coach as a direct affront to his authority.
