Flick Upset After Barcelona Talent Departure: “This is My Biggest Disappointment”

The German coach Hansi Flick faced a challenging day at the Catalan club Barcelona as news broke of the impending departure of young talent Dru. The player has reportedly accepted a substantial offer from a foreign club that is set to pay the buyout clause of 6 million euros.

According to information revealed by the newspaper Sport, closely associated with the Catalan side, Flick received this news directly from the player himself shortly after Dru turned 18 years old. This coincided with Barcelona’s return from Saudi Arabia after their triumph in the Spanish Super Cup.

Sources indicate that the German coach was both angry and significantly affected by the news, particularly as he regarded Dru as one of his key future prospects. The young player, having developed within the prestigious La Masia academy, had already participated in several matches for the first team under Flick’s management.

In light of the confirmed departure, the coach opted to exclude Dru from first-team training to avoid any potential injuries, recognizing that the player’s focus had shifted away from Barcelona’s project.

Flick had considered Dru to be among the players receiving special attention within the squad, making the announcement of his exit a personal blow for the coach. Sources from Sport reported Flick’s sentiments to those close to him, stating, “This is the biggest disappointment of my life.”

The identity of Dru’s new club is expected to be revealed in the coming hours; however, it is certain that he will be leaving Barcelona, a club he joined in the summer of 2022.
