In a recent press conference addressing the upcoming match between Egypt and Nigeria for the third place in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco, Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national team, exhibited visible frustration when confronted by a Moroccan journalist.
The Egyptian team faced a disappointing defeat against Senegal, losing 1-0 in the semifinals last Wednesday. During the press conference, the journalist directed a pointed question at Hassan, inquiring, “Have you attributed the failure to exit against Senegal to factors outside the realm of football?”
He further pressed, “You spoke after the match about organization and the accommodations despite benefiting from being in Agadir. Would it not have been more honest to acknowledge that your performance was technically weak in the match against Senegal?”
Confrontation with Journalists
Hossam Hassan, visibly agitated by the inquiry, retorted, “I will not respond to you; your question is not respectful, and you lack the courtesy required in media discourse.” This reaction underscored the tension surrounding the national team’s performance and the scrutiny they face from the press.
Moreover, another Moroccan journalist raised the issue regarding the uproar caused by Hassan’s remarks following the loss to Senegal. The Egyptian coach responded, clarifying, “This uproar was stirred up in your country, not here in Egypt.”
