Emilien Jacquelin Withdraws from Ruhpolding Relay Due to Illness

In the second of the season’s three initial relays, the French men’s biathlon team emerged victorious this Thursday in Ruhpolding, largely thanks to the performances of Éric Perrot and Quentin Fillon Maillet. This win came after a somewhat lackluster start to the race. Notably, the French team had to compete without key athlete Émilien Jacquelin, who was unable to participate due to illness.

Ruhpolding Relay Results

The podium for the three previous men’s relays of the season had consistently featured Norway, France, and Sweden, with events taking place in Östersund, Hochfilzen, and Oberhof. However, the Ruhpolding leg of the competition reshuffled the standings significantly. In the Bavarian resort, it was indeed the French team that claimed the triumph in the final relay before the upcoming Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina.

Despite the absence of Jacquelin, the resilience of the remaining team members allowed France to secure the top position, finishing ahead of both Norway and Germany. This performance not only demonstrates the depth of talent within the French squad but also sets a promising tone as they prepare for the challenges ahead in the Olympic arena.
