Diego Simeone, the Argentine head coach of Atlético Madrid, has ignited considerable debate following his press conference ahead of the upcoming match against Real Madrid, scheduled for tomorrow in Saudi Arabia.
Atlético Madrid is set to clash with Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Saudi Super Cup, a match that will be broadcast exclusively on the “Thama” application, the sole broadcaster of the Roshan Saudi League.

The question posed to Simeone during the press conference was whether Saudi Arabia would be a suitable venue to host the 2034 World Cup.
Initially, the coach responded with a simple “Yes,” followed by laughter that sparked controversy among attendees.
This particular moment quickly circulated across social media platforms, triggering numerous inquiries regarding the reason behind Simeone’s laughter in response to a straightforward question about Saudi Arabia’s capability to host the World Cup.
Supporters of Simeone have come to his defense, asserting that his laughter stemmed from the fact that he received the question in English rather than Spanish, and he also replied in English.
One advocate for the Atlético Madrid coach remarked, “The laughter was because he answered in English; Argentinians often feel shy about using this language, so he laughed when the journalist asked him in English.”
Another commentator added, “It’s not only because he replied with ‘Yes,’ but some Westerners think they are the only ones capable, viewing everything done by others as inferior. I fully support the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
Notably, during the press conference, Simeone praised Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that the country has individuals qualified to make decisions.

He stated, “Every time we’ve come to play here, we have been treated exceptionally well, and we’ve been received in a remarkable manner. If the World Cup comes here, I hope it will be done in the best possible way.”
